Still Hanging in There

Hello everyone sorry it's been so long I have been busy training...for a walk for Arthritis in April. My daughter is my walking partner, but get this my husband is going to do the actual walk with me. I am so excitied about doing this to help my family understand what I go through with Rhumitoid Arthritis. But I am getting a lot better and I am hoping to raise $150.00 for the Arithritis Foundation. It's not alot of money until you start asking people for donations so we will see what happens.

I have made my January goal of 180 pounds ( WHOO HOOO!!) now I am working on my February goal of 170 pounds. I am mall walking 3 days a week at 2 miles and I am working out at home 3 days a week. I am no longer drinking pop. But it was not hard at all to find a new healthy drink and keep drinking water. I have also found a repacement for my candy, Hershey's came out with 100 calorie chocolate snacks YUMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

My husband has joined a gym and has started working out as well and has had to join in on the diet changes with me. But it was not hard for him as he was a weight lifter and body builder in his younger days so he has begun anew and has become my not only my supporter but my trainer. And man he is tough on me he pushes me everyday. My daughter on the other hand is always there to walk with me but I sometimes get the feeling that if it weren't for me she wouldn't do this at all. I try to keep her motivated but I don't think I am sometimes. I know she needs this because she is border line diabetic and has alot of other risk facters. I worry about her alot. But that must be the Mom in me I guess.

Talking about Biggest Loser Challange

Biggest Loser Challange
I talked my daughter into doing the Biggest Loser Challange with me. It didn't take as much bribery as I thought it would..I think we will be a good, team as we are very close and do most everything togeather. We can challange each other , motivate each other and support each other. We both have a good support team at home as well. We are setting weihgt loss goals and a food diary to compare with each other. My weight gain came from medications and my age. I became very aware of how I looked when I saw the 2007 Christmas pictures. I knew then I had to make a change and saw the challange on the News Day Biggest Loser show and knew I had to find a patrner. Not just any partner but someone who I knew who would be as comitted about this as me. And when my daughter said yes it just made my day!! I have set a goal of 10 pounds per month and my starting weight is 185. I have a bad habit of weighing myself everyday and my husband told me to stop doing that but I have to know everyday. because I have set a goal of 2 pounds a week.

 January 9, 2008

Well another holiday over with. I started the New Year with a very bad cold but I am getting over it. It did stop me however from working out, so I did light strecthing in my shower. I am now getting started again with my exercise routine. I need to lose 50 pounds so I have set a goal of 10 pounds per month. Since my last blog I have lost 5 pounds!! even with being sick. (Must have been the Snack Ramen soup). But even though I was sick I still increased my water intake, ate soft foods mostly, and still did streching in the shower.

A little more about myself...It will be 3 years in Feb. that I was diagnosed with Rhumitoid Athritis. The Prednisone I was on for much of those 3 years contributed to my weight gain. But being the grown up I am supposed to be I confess my weight gain has been going on far longer. It started when I got divorced 15 years ago and went on through my marrage to my second husband. He has tried soooo many times to get me going to gym because he was a body builder in his youth and continues working out everyday. So when he tells people he is 69 they don't belive him. And yes it was very intimiadating to me. But watching the Biggest Loser has made me realize the I have alot of excuses to be fat and NONE to lose weight.

So these are the changes I have made in my diet. I drink ALOT of water (never did before), I have cut out my favorite foods : potatoe chips, candy bars, ice cream, buttered popcorn, and I limit myself to one can of diet soda a day (compired to 2 or 3 per day), also what I order when we go out to eat has changed from fried foods to baked and fresh fruit or salad. I am up to 45 min. of excercise 5 days a week. I have the right combination of medications now and it has givin me the will power and the detmination to do this..I just hope I can get my daughter as motivated as I am.

I would join the Biggest Loser club but I am on a fixed income so I had to chose the club or the gym. Needless to say I joined Curves.

I will let you know my progress next week bye for now
